  • Unifoc System

  • The helical focusing mounts UNIFOC 58 and UNIFOC 76 are especially designed for
the use of Schneider-Kreuznach enlarging lenses in combination with linear and area CCD cameras. This combination allows the imaging of small objects with an
    extraordinary high image quality.

Many machine vision applications require the imaging of small objects from distances of only a few centimeters. Schneider-Kreuznach enlarging lenses are perfectly suited for this application by their high optical performance at small imaging distances, combined with a very low distortion. Due to the large image circle diameter the lenses can also be used for linear CCD cameras.

The helical mounts UNIFOC 58 and UNIFOC 76 are used for focusing the enlarging lenses, which do not contain any internal focusing mechanism. The helical mounts offer a total focus range (Z-axis travel) of 25.7 mm and differ only by their rear mount. The UNIFOC 58 has a “male“ T2 thread (M42 x 0.75). The UNIFOC 76 has a “male“ M58 x 0.75 thread. The UNIFOC 76 is the best choice for cameras with long linear CCDs.

Each UNIFOC has an internal „female“ Leica mounting thread (Ø39 x 26 Gg. 60°), adaptable also to M39 x 1.

The final focus setting can be locked by a knurled locking thumb screw and additionally secured by an opposite Allen screw.

The helical mounts can be adapted easily with extension tubes and adapters to a wide range of imaging applications.
    • Lenses with Leica Thread

    • Componon, Componon-S and APO-Componon are product names which have had an almost legendary reputation worldwide for excellent quality over decades. For future tasks in industrial optics, the goal of Schneider-Kreuznach is to continue this tradition with modern, high-quality lenses in the field of digital applications. These lenses in their robust plastic housings are a good solution when using large linear and area sensors in a wide range of applications.

A far-reaching and sophisticated optical design with constantly high manufacturing quality is a matter of course. The excellent optical coatings were designed specially for the glass types used. This ensures that the lens is optimally attuned to its application area. Flexible use due to the wide magnification range and the high optical quality with its logically limited starting aperture, low chromatic aberration and optimisation at small imaging distances all combine to make these lenses unique.
    • V-Mount Macro Lenses

    • A macro lens is not simply a macro lens. It is based on a highly adjustable component system which caters for a wide variety of industrial requirements by simply and effectively combining different accessory components. This lens series consists of Schneider-Kreuznach macro lenses which have been designed specially for industrial applications in a robust special aperture housing with helical focusing mounts, extension tubes and adapters for almost every conceivable type of camera. The combination facilitates close-up, macro and finite object distances of the highest quality and rendering of subtle tonal gradations for demanding industrial and scientific applications.

Flexible use due to the wide magnification range and the high optical quality with its logically limited starting aperture, low chromatic aberration, the option of setting the best possible azimuth position due to the circumferential V-mount interface and the optimisation of imaging performance at small imaging distances all combine to make these lenses unique. Naturally, it is possible to lock the aperture as well as to use filters or other accessories. For enlarging images the lenses can also be used in reverse position depending on the field of vision and pixel size with the symmetrical V-mount interface without additional accessories.
    • V-Mount Line Scan Lenses

    • Wherever complex web and surface inspections are concerned, the line scan image capture method is used in most cases. Due to the principle used, this method requires a very careful choice of camera and an optimally adapted lens in order to achieve maximum system performance. It is essential to observe important application-specific and physical parameters: the size of the CCD or CMOS imaging sensor in the camera defines the minimum required image circle of the lens.

The size of the sensor pixels determines the necessary optical imaging performance of the lens. Today’s high-performance lenses must follow the trend toward ever-smaller pixel sizes and increased sensor resolution. This typically results in larger array sizes and therefore considerably higher demands made on the imaging performance or MTF (modulation transfer function) of the lenses.

Makro-Symmar, Micro-Symmar and Apo-Componon lenses are designed for industrial machine vision applications and satisfy even the most stringent requirements of next generation 12k line scan applications. Identification of the best azimuth and application in reverse position means that they can be deployed in a customer-oriented way.

The different lens versions of Makro-Symmar, Micro-Symmar and Apo-Componon cover practically all industrial application areas with the specially defined and optimized imaging areas.
    • Macro Varon Line-Scan Lenses

    • The special lenses Macro Varon and Macro Varon fixed beta (magnification) designed for the highest requirements of web and surface inspections are the first choice for FPD and PCB inspection systems, for example. These applications require line scan lenses with very high resolution in order to guarantee cost-effi cient error detection in manufacturing and the associated quality assurance processes. When using highresolution cameras, the lens is often the limiting factor for the optimal utilisation of the theoretically possible system performance. These lenses, however, have been specially developed for the use of 12k and 16k line scan sensors. In the optical magnification range required these lenses fully exploit all the possibilities of the very latest sensor generation.

The special design feature of the Macro Varon is the innovative, continuous aberration suppression (CAS). This ensures uniformly high imaging performance across the entire magnification range.

A precise gear set continuously corrects minimal aberrations using floating elements – flexibly arrayed lenses inside the lens – and thus guarantees the exact observance of the focal length and optimal adjustment to the desired magnifi cation setting. The lens can be altered both manually and power-operated in the magnification factor. An externally accessible precision gear wheel serves as the interface for the motorised drive. The alignment of the best azimuth position is also possible here via the V-mount interface.
    • Accessories

    • Unifoc
The variable adjustment of the magnification can be done with both helical mounts:
      The UNIFOC 58 has a T2 thread (M42 x 0.75), the UNIFOC 76 a thread M58 x 0.75.
Each helical mount has an internal "femal" Leica mounting thread Ø39 x 26 Gg. 60°, adaptable also to M39 x 1.

      Extension Tubes
The helical mounts can be adapted easily with extension tubes and adapters to a wide range of imaging applications.

      Camera Adapter
Special camera adapters are available that connect the Unifoc system to a variety of camera mounts.
  • Lenses for large Sensors

  • Visual process and quality control is one of the most important application areas in modern industrial optics. With the growing use of large-format, increasingly high-resolution image sensors, conventional lenses are now reaching their optical limits. Schneider-Kreuznach provides excellent lenses especially for cameras with large sensors of the latest and coming generations.

Due to their universal, application-independent design and a construction which is both optically and mechanically advanced designs, these lenses make it possible to take advantage of modern sensor technology to the fullest performance. With wide-ranging accessories such as extension tubes, helical mounts and adapters, these lenses are used in classic machine vision, LCD, PCB and web inspection, in medical applications, food processing as well as 2D and 3D measuring technology.

During development, regardless of the area of application, maximum priority was given to outstanding imaging performance, low longitudinal and lateral chromatic aberration, as well as extremely low distortion, i.e. two criteria which are of great importance for the new linear and area sensors and the associated application and tasks. The optical quality is supported by a mechanical construction which has been geared specially to optical requirements. New, high-precision manufacturing methods allow the completion of the tightest optical and mechanical tolerances.

For our customers, the benefits of this design are obvious: Schneider-Kreuznach lenses for large sensors are distinguished by their great Opto-Mechanical robustness and durability, even in extreme and constantly changing operating conditions, as well as by their very low maintenance requirements. This is reflected in the reproducibility of error detection and in more accurate and more stable measurement results. The lenses thus satisfy all the conditions required to sustain production processes reliably all round.
      • Xenon-EMERALD

      • Many camera manufacturers are using the F-Mount bayonet, the V48 or the Canon bayonet as the camera/lens interface of their high resolution area and line scan cameras.

Schneider-Kreuznach has addressed these topics with the new lenses series Xenon-EMERALD. The low distortion lenses with an image circle diameter of 43.2mm are compact, robust, lockable in distance and aperture. They are designed for close up range (S) and long range (L) and optimized for a uniform image quality over the whole sensor area.

The 400-1000nm broadband coating makes them suitable for applications in the visible and near infrared spectrum. The variety of alternative mounts makes them even more flexible for a wide range of applications in machine vision, quality control, web in-spection and other image processing applications.
      • Xenon-SAPPHIRE

      • These high-resolution, high-speed lenses are optimized for the use of 16k pixel line scan sensors. There are several lens types each optimized for a certain magnification range. The image circles of 62 mm meet the length of currently available 16k CMOS lines and will cover at the same time 12k image heights as well.

The high resolution of these lenses make full use of the sensor‘s pixel size of 3.5µm and fully exploits all possibilities of the latest sensor generation. As usual they are compact, robust and lockable in distance and apertures. The 400 - 1000 nm broadband coating makes it suitable for applications in the visible and the near infrared spectrum. The V-mount makes it easy to install and rotate into the desired azimuth position for a wide range of high resolution applications where existing 12k lenses (with approx. 5µm pixel sizes) are not sufficient anymore.
  • SWIR Lenses

      • SWIRON

      • The SWIRON high-performance lenses are extremely robust and insensitive to rough ambient conditions, with the result that the lenses retain their high optical imaging performance in industrial environments. The secure locking of the iris and focus settings and the SWIR coating of 800 – 1800 nm is standard for these lenses.
  • Special Lenses

      • Telecentric Lenses

      • he bilateral telecentric lenses for matrix and linescan cameras set a new standard of lens performance for optical metrology. The absolute distortion in the image plane of these lenses is only a few micrometers.

The lenses can be focused on the image side in a range of +/- 3mm which means that the working distance can be adjusted within the defined limits without any change in the lens magnification. Thus the lenses can easily be adjusted to fit the space conditions in the application.

Due to the numeric aperture of 0.14 or 0.13, the light intensity of these lenses is considerably higher than of other available lenses. The integrated iris allows easy setting and locking for the demands of any measurement task.
  • Industrial Filters

    • Bandpass Filter

    • Bandpass filters transmit light of a defined wavelength range, while blocking all others. The thickness of the band filters are kept to a minimum. Multiple thin layer coatings archive the designed wavelength range at a high optical quality. The effective thickness of the thin layers and therefore the spectral characteristics of the filters depend on the angle of incidence. Bandpass filters are available in the range from 465 nm to 865 nm and full-width-half-maximum from 50 nm to more than 100 nm, in sizes 10 mm to 74 mm diameter or mounted in M 25.5 to M 67. Schneider Kreuznach bandpass filters are RoHS conform.
    • Shortpass Filter

    • Schneider Kreuznach shortpass filters are designed with sharp cut-off wavelength from 615 nm to 850 nm. A broadband anti reflection coating avoids troublesome light. Shortpass filters are ideal for fluorescence and wavelength sorting applications.

All filters are available mounted (M25.5 to M67) and unmounted in diameters of 10.0 mm to 74.0 mm size. Custom size available upon request.
    • Longpass Filter

    • Schneider Kreuznach longpass filters are designed with sharp cut-off wavelength from 400 nm to 820 nm. Longpass Filters are ideal for fluorescence and wavelength sorting applications.

All filters are available mounted (M25.5 to M67) and unmounted in 10.0 mm to 74.0 mm size. Custom size available upon request.
    • Edge Filter

    • UV & IR cut filters block troublesome UV/ VIS or NIR light. They are robust, cost-effective and insensitive to angle of incidence. Additional to their filter function they are also a protective window in imaging systems.

Edge filters are available unmounted in sizes from 10 mm to 74 mm diameter and mounted with common thread sizes M 25.5 to M 67.
We offer several AR coating options, depending on filter type.
    • Neutral Density Filter

    • Neutral density (ND) filters reduce evenly the transmittance of light over the entire VIS spectrum. They decrease the brightness of an image without changing the depth of field (DoF). They attenuate light by ab-sorbing a part of the energy of the VIS wavelength, without influence on the color balance. ND filters are used to control the intensity of light going through an optical system to avoid over-exposure, blooming on imaging sensors and prevent damages on light sensitive measuring sensors.

ND filters are available unmounted in sizes 10 mm to 74 mm diameter and mounted with common thread sizes M 25.5 to M 67.
    • Color & NIR-Filter

    • Blue and Green are band pass filters, transmitting wavelength in a corresponding color as seen by the human eye, while yellow, orange and red are long pass filters. IR pass filters are long pass filters, transmitting only IR light. The Cut-on wavelength is defined at 50% transmittance of maximum. Color filters are absorptive filter that are used to increase contrast of a monochrome image, by isolating spectral regions and lighting colors. IR filters are absorptive filters, too. They are used in front of a NIR sensor or an image sensor for NIR imaging where IR spectrum only is needed. The type of the filter is thereby depending on two main factors: color of the object and illumination. Call for helping to select the best suitable filter.

Color filters are available unmounted in sizes from 10 mm to 74 mm diameter and mounted with common thread sizes M 25.5 to M 67.
    • Polarizer

    • Natural light and most light sources emit unpolarized light. Polarizers are an excellent solution in applications that require glare reduction due to reflected light. They are also used in several optical instruments.

Unpolarized light passing a linear polarizing filter will be linear polarized afterwards in the orientation of the polarizing axis of the filter. A circular polarizer is a combination of a linear polarizer and a quarter wave retarder. Crossing the axes (or left handed with right handed, when using circular) blocks nearly all light. Circular polarizers are recommended if optics as mirrors are within the optical path from filter to sensor.

Schneider polarizers are designed to fulfill industrial requirements. They are made of dichroic laminated polarizing polymers cement-ed between 2 slides of protective glass. Polarizers are sensitive to humidity, therefore we recommend our unmounted filters as edge sealed version.

Linear and circular polarizers are available as glass filters, un-mounted in sizes 10 mm to 74.0 mm diameter and mounted with common thread sizes M 25.5 to M 67 or as film up to 420 x 1270 mm size and 0.3 or 0.8 mm thick. Custom sizes on request.
    • Sensor Cover Glass

    • Schneider-Kreuznach presents 1 mm thick sensor cover glasses with a 16 mm diameter for 1" CCD and CMOS sensors, called IFG UI. These filters have excellent surface quality and a transmitted wavefront of less than lambda/4, and the focused image is not impacted. Peak transmission of those UV IR Cut filters is >90% within specified range, while blocking is below 1% from 300 to 1000 nm outside the respective transmission band. The IFG VIS-85 transmits VIS spectrum and around 850nm, perfect for night and day surveillance applications.

      The filters are RoHS conforming.
  • AR- Coatings

      • Antireflection Coating Options

      • Uncoated glass surfaces reflect about 4-8% of incident light. Ghost images and stray light reduce image contrast. Anti reflection coatings minimize reflects. Schneider offers 4 types of AR coatings. A standard broadband Coating (E) for visible spectrum and 2 broadband multilayer resistant coating (MRC for VIS and MRCIR for NIR). They are hydrophobic and withstand mechanical and environmental stress.

V coatings are available on request; those custom coatings have an extreme low reflex at an optimized wavelength. Especially V- coatings are sensitive to angle of incidence.
  • Mounts

      • Filter Mounts

      • Schneider offers filter with a variety of mounts with common thread sizes to fit on most camera lens systems. SH mount is the standard, when high flexibility is needed. The filters are held by a retainer ring. For M30.5 thread SN1, offers high clear aperture, which avoids vignetting, developed for sophisticated requirements. For filters which require rotation, DH mount is the right choice. Our SN2 with locking screw is especially designed for industrial applications. The locking mechanism, secures the filter after adjusting the correct orientation. Filters are glued into the mount. All mounts have female and male M-thread, and can be stacked when more than one filter is required.
CMT-mount designed for machine vision cameras with popular C-mount thread.

Mounts are always a part of a filter, empty mounts are not available.
  • Illumination

      • UltraLED Engine6

      • Schneider Kreuznach offers Fiber Light Engine with common Schott adapter. It has been developed to couple light efficiently into a fiber bundle. Diameters between 3-6 mm active fibers are available. This makes the Ultra LED Engine 6 an excellent choice for medical applications, where small diameter light guides are commonly used.

The Ultra LED Engine 6 is designed around a high brightness LED source.
The operation of the optics module requires sufficient cooling of the LEDs. An appropriate ventilation fan is part of the design
