The limited company VETUS DEN OUDEN N.V. was founded in the Netherlands in 1964 by Mr. Willem Hendrik (Bill) DEN OUDEN, who is still the President of the enterprise. Since its inception, the company has grown to become an internationally operating group, employing approximately 130 staff and yielding a consolidated turnover of around 42 million EURO per annum.On 1st August 1999, the Dutch investment group N.I.B. CAPITAL acquired 75% of the company's shares. The 25% balance of the stock remains in the hands of the founder, Mr W.H. den Ouden. Mr Beschier Kik was appointed Managing Director on 1 November 2000 and entrusted with the day-to-day management of the group.The word VETUS, the company’s trademark, is an approximate translation of the founder's name into Latin (vetus = old; den Ouden means: "the elder"). The company's head quarters are located in Schiedam the Netherlands (near Rotterdam). In the course of time, branch offices (100% subsidiaries) have been opened in the Netherlands (Leeuwarden), the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain and the United States of America. VETUS DEN OUDEN N.V. is also a joint venture partner with its importers in Greece and Switzerland. VETUS products are marketed and serviced in more than 100 countries worldwide, through branch offices, independent importers and commercial agents or by means of direct sales to the major boat builders (OEMs). Nearly all VETUS products, which are mainly intended for installation in pleasure craft and smaller commercial vessels, have been and are still being developed in-house. Manufacturing is organized partly within the VETUS organization itself and through the involvement of subcontractors from across the world. All products are made exclusively by or for VETUS and the relevant moulds, patterns and tools are all VETUS property. The major product groups are: Marine diesel engines (using basic engines made by Mitsubishi, Peugeot and Deutz), components needed or useful for the perfect engine installation, hydraulic steering systems, steering wheels, bow and stern thrusters, tanks, port lights & deck hatches, anchor windlasses, custom made windows and much, much more.Please refer to the "Sales programme" category for a complete overview.
