DESCH Antriebstechnik GmbH & Co. KG is an internationally operating, medium-sized company.
DESCH develops
and produces planetary gears and special gears, press drives, clutches and
drive components for modern mechanical engineering and systems.
Apart from its standard product range, DESCH is well-known for its
innovative, custom-made solutions.
Technical knowledge, individual service, advanced technology test rigs and
quality-aware manufacturing have all made DESCH one of the market leaders
for transmission systems and components.
The Nidec DESCH motor gearbox series Denox®, which is already widely used as main spindle drives in many machine tools, receives a new modular extension. In order to meet the demand for optimum availability with maximum flexibility at the same time, two new design lines Nidec DESCH Denox® BASE-Line and Nidec DESCH Denox® FLEX-Line have been developed.
The new Nidec DESCH Denox® BASE-Line stands for a standardized motor gearbox unit in a pre-configured design, which stands out especially high availability at the same time as the standard price level and of course still guarantees the high Nidec DESCH quality promise.
General features
• Stocked components
• Set up for vertical and horizontal installation position
• Fixed installation dimensions (D)
• Cutting fluid tube integrated
• Media supply via motor - B side (e.g. lubricating and shifting oil)
The Nidec DESCH Denox® FLEX-Line represents the entire customized concept that has always been lived at Nidec DESCH. Especially as a customer-specific inline drive solution for direct RAM installation, the Nidec DESCH Denox® FLEX-Line series offers many technical options to choose from, as well as a high flexibility for special design requirements.
General features
• Individually configurable
• Specific adaptation to the installation situation
• Variable media supply (axial and/or radial)
A defined torque is generated by the permanently preloaded pressure spring columns. If the defined torque is increased, the Planox® clutch type PTF slips and protects the drive train from damages. The upcoming wear can be automatically compensated by the pressure springs and can be also readjusted, if necessary.
Slipping torque: 500 Nm to 5,000 Nm
Speed: up to 1,500 rpm
A defined torque is generated by the permanently preloaded compression spring columns. If the defined torque is increased, the Lutex® LRK clutch slips and protects the drive train from damages. The upcoming wear can be automatically compensated by the pressure springs and can be also readjusted, if necessary. The clutch is designed for use in oil. Due to the permanent oil lubrication, the couplings have very low wear and achieve a long service life time and longer maintenance intervals.
Slipping torque: 250 Nm to 15,000 Nm
Speed: up to 3,000 rpm

FLEXWAVE is a compact harmonic gear reduction mechanism that achieves zero backlash, as well as exceptional positioning accuracy, torque density and repeatability. FLEXWAVE consists of three internal elements – the flexspline, the circular spline and the wave generator. The elasticity properties of the flexspline and the teeth differential between the flexspline and the circular spline result in its unique reduction characteristics.
FLEXWAVE comes in various form factors, including component sets, simple contained assemblies and complete gear units. Cup, hat, solid and hollow input shaft configurations give engineers true freedom in design. FLEXWAVE is also available in Ultra-Flat and High Torque variations for applications with demanding footprint and performance requirements. Dimensions are interchangeable against industry standards, making it easier to implement in legacy equipment. When compared with other gear technologies, FLEXWAVE offers the following advantages:
Component Sub-assembly
The core strain wave gear elements without any supplemental components that provide additional bearing support, the structure for containment, and specialized input or output configurations.
Series Features
Simple Contained Assembly
The core strain wave gear elements, with additional cross roller bearing support is included within this assembly. No housing is provided for containment, requiring the designer to integrate into their equipment substructure.
Series Features
Complete Unit Assembly
The core strain wave gear elements and cross roller bearing completely contained within a substructure. Also included is an output flange to enable a variety of mounting configurations. The Complete Unit Assembly would be partially integrated into machinery.
Series Features
The WPG series gearheads combine the industry leading accuracy, repeatability and torque-to-weight ratio of our WPU high torque strain wave units with the modularity, installation ease and universal motor mounting of VR planetary products.
The result is a compact, versatile zero backlash gearhead in 5 frame sizes with ratios as high as 160:1 in a single stage.
The WPG can be implemented into a wide range of robotics, machine tool and general automation applications and allows customers with limited experience or intergration capability to deploy an off-the-shelf solution and bring their product to market faster than ever before.
