  • Offer Profile
  • Kassow Robots was founded in Copenhagen (Denmark) is developing and producing unique and efficient
7-axis lightweight collaborative robots for industrial applications. The five cobots offer a payload of up to
18 kilograms and a reach of up to 1800 millimeter. All these cobots also have three ports with various I/Os
and power supply signals as well as an Ethernet interface installed as standard on the toolhead – and the
free drive button allows completely new freedom when programming waypoints.

The company’s motto is “strong, fast, simple”. Its products offer speed and power, yet also have a long reach. The user-friendliness of the cobots provides businesses with greater flexibility, allowing SMEs without their own robotics specialists to achieve complex automation and programming cost-effectively and independently. What is more, the cobots are compact enough for use in confined spaces.

Two highly experienced robotics experts – Kristian Kassow as CEO and Dieter Pletscher as Head of Sales – are driving the company’s development.

  • THE POWER OF ROBOT ENGINEERING

  • True to our claim “strong, fast, simple”, we develop and produce uniquely efficient industrial collaborative lightweight robots with 7 axes. Despite their large reach, Kassow Robots are extremely powerful, fast and suitable for use in small spaces. What is more, they enable small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to achieve complex automation and programming flexibly, independently and cost-effectively. Our technology is based on a novel design of both robot controller, user interface and arm mechanics. It has been developed by a team lead by Kristian Kassow, who, in his previous start-up years ago, was also responsible for other ground-breaking designs in the field of robotics.

Our vision is to offer a wide range of models to help all manufacturing companies, SMEs in particular produce even more competitively using cobots in a multitude of ways.

LONGER REACH AND HIGHER PAYLOAD - NO MATTER THE USE

7 AXES FOR MORE FLEXIBILITY AND LOWER COSTS
All Kassow robots are “lightweight articulated robots” – i.e. robots with a single arm and rotating joints. Depending on a risk analysis, they can be used directly in industrial production with minimal or even no additional safety measures.

What makes our robots special: Unlike other robot manufacturers, whose portfolios usually feature only six-axis models, we exclusively make robots with 7 fully controlled axes. These 7 axes give you much more flexibility, as they enable our robot arms to far better replicate the movement of a real human arm.

This means that Kassow robots can not only move an object in a straight line from A to B, but can also follow a curved path at a specified speed. This offers real advantages, for instance when it comes to tasks such as welding, painting and gluing, or where particular manoeuvrability is required (e.g. when loading machining centres in confined spaces).
      • THE BENEFITS OF A COBOT FROM KASSOW ROBOTS

      • THE SHORT CUT TO UNDERSTANDING THE KASSOW BENEFITS

A Kassow robot is strong, fast and simple, but there is much more to it than that. We can help make your production processes more efficient and your business more competitive.
          • SPEED

          • Industry's voice: "We need more speed for our jobs than a traditional light weight robot can provide"

Our answer: Kassow Robots move at speeds up to 225 degrees per second on all 7 axes.

Higher robot speeds increase production output significantly and therefore broaden the range of tasks that can be carried out.

Win more orders or improve the profitability of existing projects. Return on investment will be both faster and higher in %.

          • PAYLOAD & REACH

          • Industry's voice: "The objects we need to move are sometimes heavier than a traditional lightweight robot
can handle and we need far reach"

Our answer: Despite their aluminium construction, the Kassow robots have a payload of up to 18 kg without
compromising on speed – and their reach of up to 1800 mm is outstanding.

A higher payload and far reach both increase the range of objects that can be handled (scope) while still
            providing high production speeds.

Win more orders or improve the profitability of existing orders. Return on investment will be both faster
            and higher in %.

          • USER INTERFACE

          • Industry's voice: "We want to program and run the robot with our own staff and save time"

Our answer: Kassow Robots provide a teach pendant with a tablet-like graphical user interface

The robot can be set up and operated by any staff member after a basic introduction and is easy to use from day one. This increases the flexibility and reduces the costs of production

          • SAFE AND COLLABORATIVE

          • Industry's voice: "Our jobs require the robot to work in close cooperation with our operators"

Our answer: Kassow Robots collaborative robots have built-in force torque sensors that detect impact and abnormal forces.

The sensors stop the robot when overloaded. This means it can operate together with or close to staff without special safety measures (following a risk assessment), expanding the range of possible applications, which include repetitive, dangerous and dirty tasks.

Increase your employee satisfaction and reduce the cost of production with our cobots.

          • SPACE LIMITATION

          • Industry's voice: "We do not have much space for a robot and our jobs require the robot to access narrow spaces"

Our answer: All Kassow Robots are compact in size and weight, and have 7 axes as standard.

They provide the ultimate flexibility of tool movement, save working space and allow easy reach-in and reach-around in any application. The base of the robot can be flexibly positioned and oriented.

Win more orders, secure your investment and achieve a faster and higher ROI.

          • DURABILITY

          • Industry's voice: "We need a really strong and durable lightweight robot to ensure a longer life span and tight tolerances over time"

Our answer: Kassow Robots have an all-aluminium surface

Stronger material leads to a longer lifetime.

Lower operating cost. Investment security and higher ROI

          • MOVEABILITY

          • Industry's voice: "We have enough work for a lightweight robot but it is produced in different parts of the company."

Our answer: The lightest Kassow Robots are just 28.5kg and have an easy unplug/plug-in portable electrical cabinet and teach pendant

The robot can easily be relocated and redeployed to different areas and applications.

          • APPLICATIONS

          • MODERN INDUSTRY IS A MATTER OF COLLABORATION

“Nothing is impossible” could almost be our motto when it comes to the applications for our cobots – the pictograms below give just six examples. Even when it comes to complex specialized tasks, there are barely any limits. In adhesive applications, for example, our cobot follows an exact path, maintaining the specified speed whatever the type of movement involved.

            HIGH SPEED PROBLEMSOLVING

             - the 7-axis arm makes the Kassow robot both flexible and efficient

            POWERFUL YET FLEXIBLE

             - it is easy to move a Kassow Robot to a new location and reprogram it for a new task
            • CASE STORIES

            • "7-AXIS COBOTS IN ACTION: STRONG – FAST – SIMPLE"

Presented for the first time in 2018, in production and in use since 2019 (see case studies below): Our 7-axis light-weight robots. What defines these unique and efficient industrial light-weight cobots from Kassow Robots?

              • Is it the fact that despite having a long reach, they are extremely strong and fast – and can even be safely operated in close proximity to others, once risk assessment took place?
              • Or perhaps that due to the compact size, they can be used in confined spaces and in addition, the high degree of flexibility that makes them ideal for a wide range of applications?
              • Or is it because of the familiar tablet technology that allows easy usage and even the option of programming it yourself?

Actually, all of these aspects are what define our cobots! And the concrete advantages for companies are clear: from higher productivity to providing relief for employees who are faced with physically demanding and/or repetitive tasks – through to entirely new business areas, which companies can tap into thanks to this all-rounder that can be applied throughout all sectors
                • Filling

                • Alexander Bürkle & JM Tronic
When it comes to new facility concepts for weighing and dosing tasks, Alexander Bürkle helps small and medium-sized enterprises to economically automate monotonous work and production processes. The lightweight robots from Kassow Robots are integrated both into existing facilities and new facility concepts as, for example, in the case of weighing and dosing specialist JMTronic. The previously manual processes in contract filling can now be performed by the cobot, significantly boosting productivity for the customer. One other benefit: it’s healthier for the employees and it improves quality standards.

LABELLING IN TIGHT SPACES WITH THE KR810

How the 7 axes put their tremendous manoeuvrability to work
Have you seen how our KR810 lightweight cobot takes over the labelling? This application is to be implemented at a customer of the project group, a Germany-based specialist in automation of packaging: “This is possible thanks to the 7th axis, despite extremely limited space. Cobots with only six axes would not be able to succeed here,” says Marcel Bleß, Produkt Key Account Manager. The different distances to the surface can also be easily handled once the pallet has been turned on a turntable conveyor to another of the four sides to be labelled. Have a look at the video clip below.

                  KR810 PERFORMING CNC TASKS

The cobot’s placement to the side also facilitates easy access to the machine
Swiss Cobots, a partner of Kassow Robots, is showing how the 7 axes can tap their full potential. The lightweight robot is placed to the side of a machine’s opening. It reaches around the corner of the machine and performs CNC tasks. One other benefit: Because the KR810 is not located in the front of the opening, employees have easy access to the machine.
