Arc welding
Arc welding with robots offers many advantages. Not only
does it improve the finished weld and increase productivity, it is also
cost-effective. It is also a wise choice from a health and safety
standpoint. MOTOMAN offers, dedicated arc welding robots, high quality
positioners and gantries, and state-of-the-art customised solutions for your
demands.
MOTOMAN’s unique multi-robot technology, through which up to four robots (or
up to 36 axes in total) are synchronously coordinated from one single robot
controller, offers such advantages as reduced weld distortion, cycle time
and programming time, as well as jig less welding, higher efficiency and
compact systems.
The EA and SSA robots offer a high-quality, fast and precise arc welding
operation.

Cutting
Robots are the perfect choice for many cutting jobs with
laser, plasma and water jet, because they can cut complex shapes on tubes,
sheets or pieces of any other shape, and make the work process more
flexible. The excellent accuracy and path-following capabilities of robots
give precise results time after time, in three dimensions and with greater
flexibility than many dedicated cutting machines. A single robot system can
also be used for multiple tasks that include cutting, welding and finishing,
which contributes to reducing the overall cycle time and providing faster
return on investment.
Explore our wide robot range to find a cutting solution for optimal
performance.

Machine tending
Robotic machine tending is more accurate, and increases
productivity. Robots are excellent for deployment at injection moulding
machines, CNC mills and lathes, presses etc. Whether tending one or several
machines, the robot works continuously and enables unmanned operations.
Machine tending with industrial robots is a flexible solution which makes it
possible to make changes in the cell according to production requirements.
When product defects or machine problems occur, troubleshooting is
simplified because human error has not contributed. By automating with
robots, machines can be operated much more efficiently and even through the
night and weekends to give the best return on investment.
MOTOMANīs robots can do more than loading and unloading machines, they can
also perform operations such as welding, cutting, polishing and palletizing.

Material removal
Material removal applications are a common part of most
manufacturing processes and include tasks such as grinding, deburring and
polishing. With the flexibility, repeatability and extreme precision of
six-axis robots it is possible to grind, trim, polish and even clean almost
any part, in any material to achieve a consistent high-quality finish for
every part.
The two main approaches are either for the robot to hold the part or the
tool. It is also possible to have two robots (or up to four) working
together for ultimate flexibility. One robot holds the part, while the other
manipulates the tool.
Whether you need to grind or polish MOTOMAN has the efficient robotic
solutions for you.

Painting
The volatile and hazardous nature of solvent-based paint
makes it desirable to minimize human contact and to employ robots to ensure
a consistent finish. Robotic painting applications optimize appearance,
throughput and quality while increasing material savings through greater
application efficiency. The precision of a robotic system can generate
substantial savings in paint or other coatings. The coating is applied
consistently and at high speed, guaranteeing high throughput and high
quality.
The EPX and PX robot series from MOTOMAN allows a choice of painting robots
that are matched to customer criteria to ensure the best results.

Pick & place
Pick and place robots perform tedious, repetitive tasks
with ease, speed and accuracy. Robotic pick-and-place applications are
designed for very fast and accurate work. Often coupled to a vision system,
they tirelessly perform high volumes of repetitive movements providing
dependable solutions for production lines.
While enabling faster cycle times, pick-and-place robots perform the task
more accurately and consistently than their human counterparts. In addition,
quality and output are increased, and valuable floor space is saved –
creating long term profitability.

Spot welding
Since spot welding requires a weld gun and a power pack
that may weigh in excess of 100 kg, robots are ideal for the job. For
high-volume manufacturers needing to perform thousands of sheet-metal spot
welds per shift, welding cycle time is critical. A spot welding robot can
position the welding gun with extreme accuracy and speed, shaving seconds on
the off weld-cycle-time and thus increasing productivity.
MOTOMAN offers complete welding solutions and the ES-robots are specifically
designed to deliver unmatched performance and reliability in spot welding
applications.

Assembly
Assembly operations with robots can make the process
faster, more efficient and more accurate. Robots, many of them equipped
with vision technology to aid in handling, have saved workers from tedious
and dull assembly jobs, while increasing production and quality.
With robots, your assembly operations can produce consistent high quality
output, 24 hours a day, all year round. They will eliminate downtime, reduce
labor costs and provide a high return on your investment.
Challenge, for example, the 15-axis dual-arm MOTOMAN-SDA10 robot with your
assembly tasks.

Dispensing
Dispensing is an ideal application for robots due to
their path accuracy and consistent performance. Many products, such as car
parts or mobile phones, require some form of bonding or sealing in the
production process. Because of their precision, reach and agility, six-axis
robots are ideal for dispensing adhesives, sealants or other materials.
The implementation of robots improves quality, productivity and consistency.
Further advantages include reducing waste material and relieving workers
from monotonous and often dangerous tasks.
MOTOMAN robots, such as the ES-, HP- and UP-series, are ideal for consistent
dispensing.

Material handling
Probably the broadest robot application area, material
handling spans a wide range of operations involving moving, selecting and
transferring virtually any type of product. Material handling robots are
used to move, feed or disengage parts or tools to or from a given location
or to transfer parts from one machine to another. Manufacturing companies
all over the world are implementing material handling robots because they
are faster and more accurate and cost-effective than manual handling and
offer unmatched quality, repeatability and accuracy.
MOTOMAN offers a wide range of robots suitable for different handling tasks,
ranging from small 2 kg payload robots and heavy-duty 600 kg payload robots
, to the unique SIA20 and SDA10 robots.

Packaging
User-friendly, cost-efficient and flexible for packaging
a wide range of products, robots are becoming the choice for many
manufacturing companies. In the packaging stage, robotic automation
increases flexibility, productivity and reliability since robots package
quickly and efficiently without wasting movement or time. Robots also
increase line speeds as well as remove monotone jobs for personnel. Since
packaging applications can vary greatly, our robots are easily reprogrammed.
MOTOMAN robots can effortlessly be deployed for primary and secondary
packaging, labelling, grouping of products, as well as case erecting – all
within the same packaging system – thus, also providing production with
lower volumes a good return on investment.

Palletizing
Palletizing is a type of handling application that due to
the widespread use of pallets has become a sub-type of its own. The robot
picks the parts, boxes or bags from one or more positions and places them
accordingly to a programmed pallet pattern on a pallet in a manner that
prevents the stack from tipping. An important part in palletizing operations
is the pre-grouping of packages before placing them onto a pallet, which
also can be done with robots.
Investing in a robotized palletizing system increases productivity,
flexibility and profitability as well as reducing hazardous and heavy lifts
for personnel.
The MOTOMAN EPL-robots are ready for your palletizing tasks.

Press brake tending
Regardless of the sheet’s size, the robot can always find
the best position for every bend. A robotic press brake operation has a
higher production capacity than manual operation. Since the robot is working
within a safety zone it will be possible to run the press at top speed.
Signals between the robot and the press brake allow them to communicate
during the bending process. The robot controls the movements of the press
and receives feedback that the workpiece is in contact with the back gauge,
for example.
The increase in quality, which is a result of the robot’s accurate
movements, also leads to higher profits, as the number of discarded products
is reduced.
