Innovative standard solutions as well as our individually tailor-made solutions convince with profitability, efficiency and reliability. The key to the success of the complete plants are our recycling machines for the primary shredding and granulating as well as our process know-how of over 30 years.
ANDRITZ MeWa supports its customers in realizing their plans and meeting their individual requirements economically, efficiently and exactly. The goal is to re-use the recycling material as new raw materials, like pure metals and plastics, and to substitute fuels and bioenergy.
The ANDRITZ MeWa machine range consists of different special aggregates, which perform their work in the complete recycling process: in the primary shredding, the secondary shredding and the fine granulation as well as the breaking up of material composites and making recyclable material accessible at the same time.
Every kind of material demands a very special treatment, for which ANDRITZ MeWa has developed optimized technologies for their effective and efficient treatment. All recycling machines are characterized by their flexibility, efficiency and reliability and process the input material to pure, valuable substances combined with a high throughput.
Whether you have bulky material, tires, textiles or massive metal parts – the Universal Rotary Shear UC shreds the material in a powerful, precise and reliable way. For the various applications and material types there are suitable machine sizes with different knife types available. In the secondary recycling step the material can be processed optimally, e.g. with the Universal Granulator UG.
All Rotary Shears UC have a slow and quiet running twin-shaft cutting unit. The pull-in teeth of the counter-rotating knife discs catch the material to be disintegrated and tear it in. The knives cut the material in strip-shaped pieces. The width of the knives and the number of the pull-in teeth determine thereby the size of the shredded material. Stationary scrapers between the rotating knives keep the cutting unit free from material.
The Universal Rotary Shear UC accomplishes the primary shredding of bulky large-volume input material e.g.
The Granulator UG series consists of four different machine sizes: The Granulators UG 600, UG 1000, UG 1600 and UG 2000. The equipment of the machine is determined by the main application, so that the features can be optimally adapted to the respective requirements. Decisive for the huge success of the Universal Granulator UG is apart from the high flexibility and the convincing results also the high operational safety and reliability.
The Universal Granulator UG works on the principle of guillotine shears. The material is cut above rotating knife blocks on stationary knives. The granulating screen mounted underneath determines with variable hole sizes of 5-100 mm the granulation as well as the respective throughput.
The Universal Granulator UG shreds and granulates the following material to defined granule sizes:
The Universal Cutting Mill USM is especially suitable for the fine granulation for the recycling of used tires, plastics and cables and is mostly used as the final shredding step in a complete process. The machine shreds the material to 0-4 mm and thus breaks up the last remaining material composites. The individual fractions can e.g. subsequently be separated with a non-ferrous separator. The individual fractions like copper, aluminum and plastics are then available in a high purity and quality.
Similar to the operational principle of the Universal Granulator UG, the fine granulation in the Universal Cutting Mill USM is carried out with the shearing effect of rotor and stator knives. The “double helical cutting geometry” enables a precise cutting gap over the complete working width of the machine and ensures at the same time a power favorable cut. The granulation screen mounted underneath determines with variable hole sizes of 0-4 mm the granulation as well as the respective throughput. Underneath the screen a collection tray is placed, from which the granules are pneumatically sucked off or transported with a discharge screw conveyor.
The Universal Cutting Mill USM is used for the fine granulation to granule sizes of 0-4 mm for the following material:
The Universal Cross-flow shredder QZ is suitable for a number of different materials and composites. The machine concentrates on the disintegration of the input material, but avoids an undoing and damaging of the individual components. It is therefore possible to quickly access disintegrated valuable waste material, without potential harmful substances emanating from individual parts.
Flexible turning tools accelerate the input material to variably adjustable speeds and circles. Approx. 80% of the disintegration and the opening up are carried out by the impact of the accelerated materials with each other. The different physical properties of the materials as well as the individually adjustable holding time determine the form and size of the processed material.
The Universal Cross-flow shredder QZ is used for a gentle and quick material break-up of the following composite materials:
The new Bio-QZ generation is now available in a modern, compact, and, at the same time, stable design in sizes 900 mm, 1200 mm, and 1600 mm. The main focus was to improve ease of maintenance.
ANDRITZ MeWa offers the complete process chain, from supply of the input material, to its disintegration, to feeding it to the fermenter. The individual process stages can be controlled through a common interface or included in the plant’s overall electronic control system. Existing biogas plants can also be upgraded easily with a Bio-QZ for more efficient use of gas potential.
The ANDRITZ MeWa plant range offers recycling solutions for a wide variety of different applications: Electronic and electrical waste, refrigerators, cable scrap, aluminum scrap, automotive parts like oil filters, motor blocks and tires, domestic and industrial wastes.
All materials contain valuable parts, e.g. copper, aluminum and iron, which are available and can again be sold as secondary raw materials when processed properly.
The Universal Cross-flow shredder QZ as centerpiece of the e-scrap recycling plant breaks up gently the input material. That way the material composites are broken-up and assembly groups are freed. Batteries and capacitors remain intact whereby the material stream remains clean. Directly after the processing in the QZ approximately 80% of the input material can be separated manually, automatically or optoelectronically and is directly available for selling-on.
The completely sealed system of the Universal Cross-Flow Shredder QZ takes in the refrigerators in batches and separates them in their individual components. A subsequent matrix degassing extracts the CFC from the insulating foam. With this gentle and environmentally friendly method of processing, the ANDRITZ MeWa recycling plants for refrigerators comply with highest European environmental standards. The extracted individual fractions of iron, copper, aluminum, plastics and polyurethane foam can directly be returned in the economic cycle.
Whenever metals are involved, our machines and plant solutions which are perfectly tailored to the material demonstrate their strength. When it comes to the separation of composites, the Universal Cross-flow shredder QZ disintegrates these in one step. In all other cases, our cutting systems Universal Rotary shear UC and the Universal Granulator UG work precisely and reliably.
Obtaining the rubber from used tires, the metals from oil filters and catalytic converters, the aluminum from wheel rims and engine blocks or the steel springs from seats – ANDRITZ MeWa recycling technology offers the right solution for any situation.
MSW and C&I waste contain many different materials that need to be separated mechanically into a high- and a low-calorific fraction. This process involves shredding, screening and classifying of the material. Metals, inerts and organics are removed; light fractions with high-calorific value (e.g. plastics, textile and paper) remain. The RDF fraction could be used in the cement industry, steel furnaces or power stations, substituting coal and oil.
The high-quality Universal Rotary Shear UC and Universal Granulator UG are used for primary and secondary shredding. Quickly interchangeable screens allow many different output sizes.
In order to optimize the output quality shredding can be combined with
The result is a homogeneous refuse derived fuel.
Depending on the requirements, ANDRITZ MeWa plants include several shredding stages in order to break down the stubborn rags properly. The robust machine technology with its very hard wearing cutting gear releases the metals (accounting for up to 40% of the content) completely. Impurities are separated into different fractions by subsequent separation processes. The calorific materials are further processed to provide substitute fuels.
