        The efficient design keeps the investment costs relatively low: The rack uprights are spaced far apart and are connected by longitudinal beams. Depending on the weight of the stored goods, up to five pallets can be placed next to each other on the beams. This means that only few rack uprights are needed.

        With the appropriate accessories, other unit loads such as containers can also be stored in the pallet rack, or pallets can be stored in crosswise orientation. Typically, lengthwise orientation is used for storing reserve stock on whole pallets. Crosswise orientation is preferred for pallets that are in active use as it affords easier access to the items.

        Accessories for multi-storage pallet racks

        IPG - Beams

        The longitudinal beams called “IPG beams” (“I” describes the shape, “P” stands for profile, and “G” for Galler) connect the upright frames. The pallets are placed on these beams. Galler offers outstanding flexibility in the configuration of these beams: The combination of three available structural heights (100 mm, 120 mm, 150 mm) and various sheet metal thicknesses (from 1.75 to 2.5 mm) allows the IPG beams to be designed precisely for the required load per shelf.

        Push-through protector

        Is mounted on the frame for each shelf and prevents the pallets from being pushed too far and falling down.


        For use in the picking area as well as for storing cardboard boxes and cases. The chipboard panels are placed on the beams and locked with Z plates.
        Alternatively, grating shelves can be used that absorb high point loads and are suitable for warehouses with sprinkler systems.
        Wire mesh decks placed on top prevent fall-through or can be used to store small items.

      • GALLER single-storage pallet racks

      • Better space utilisation and the storage of particularly heavy items are important reasons for choosing single-storage pallet racks.

        In this warehouse, the rack uprights are spaced just far enough apart to allow storing one pallet. Typically, angle sections installed depthwise support the unit loads – omitting the rack beams creates even more space.

        As a rule, single-storage pallet racks are well suited to the storage of heavy items because they offer better load distribution (column load) compared to multi-storage racks. Because of the easy-to-reach arrangement of the unit loads, single-storage pallet racks are also frequently chosen for applications where picking is performed directly from the pallet (or wire mesh box).

        Front-to-back support G hook

        These hook-on front-to-back supports provide a flexible solution for setting up a single-storage pallet rack. The two welded G hooks simply hook into the lateral slotted holes of the uprights. Thanks to the 50-mm spacing of the slotted holes, the compartment height is flexible and can be adjusted and modified quickly and without tools at any time. The continuous push-through protector is mounted on a bracket on the rear upright.

        Front-to-back support on crossbar

        To ensure structural stability, the OMEGA single-storage rack is reinforced with crossbars at the top and – depending on the height of the structure – with more crossbars at one or multiple levels. With this system, the front-to-back support is bolted to the crossbar. The continuous push-through protector is again fastened to the back.

      • Drive-Inpallet racks

      • For non-stackable unit loads with a low turnover, the drive-in pallet rack is a particularly space-saving storage type. The structural design of a drive-in pallet rack is similar to that of a single-storage rack with multiple storage bins behind each other. This creates multiple channels next to each other and on top of each other where pallets can be placed in crosswise orientation or where containers can be placed on steel supports. To do this, the truck drives into the respective storage aisle; before entering, the truck must lift the load to the required height. Drive-in pallet racks achieve a greater utilisation of floor space and cubic space. In principle, the drive-in rack creates the possibility of block storage for goods that cannot be stacked.

        Pallet beam with centring device

        The pallet beams are hooked into the 50-mm pitch perforations of the rack uprights; positioning is flexible. The Z-shaped special profile of the supporting rail with a contact surface width of 100 mm allows the automatic centring of the load carriers and thus particularly great efficiency when loading. The steel section is bolted to the side of the pallet beam – this ensures that the contact surface is even without any protruding bolt heads. The height of the entire steel section is only about 165 mm.

        Pallet deflector

        To protect the upright profiles from damage caused by the pallets during loading, pallet deflectors are installed above the pallet beam.

      • Pallet racks on mobile bases

      • Galler mobile racks combine the high floor space and volume utilisation of a block stacking warehouse with the direct storage bin access of conventional pallet racks.

        The individual racks stand very close together: Unlike racking systems where the racks are bolted to the floor, mobile racking systems need only a single aisle in order to access all storage bins. The aisle between two rows of racks only opens up when a particular storage bin needs to be accessed. This is done with the help of electric-drive mobile bases that are mounted on the underside of the racks and that run on rails.

      • Galler push-back racks and flow racks

      • The racking technology of push-back racks and flow racks offer optimal cubic space utilisation with dynamic block storage. And they make stock level monitoring easy.

        The basic principle of both systems is a compact block of racks consisting of channels next to each other and on top of each other. The channels are fitted with roller lane elements with 4 % inclination. This slightly sloping design allows the goods to move through the channels by gravity alone. Flow racks are loaded from one side. The goods run through to the opposite side where they are unloaded (FIFO storage – first in, first out). Conversely, push-back racks are operated from one side only (LIFO – last in, first out). The truck pushes the pallets into the channels working against the inclination of the roller lane. Both racking systems make it easy to take inventory; expiry dates or batch numbers are easy to monitor.

        Accessories for racks with rollers

        Conveyor roller

        The conveyor rollers are made from tubular steel with 60 mm diameter and steel ball-bearing houses. The use of high-precision ball bearings ensures an extremely smooth start-up at high load capacity. Each roller carries 240 kg. The conveyor rollers are continuously galvanised as standard.

        Brake rollers

        The brake rollers ensure that the pallets run through the channel in a controlled manner. For this purpose, a three-level planetary gear with progressive braking effect is installed in the brake roller tube. The rollers with a diameter of 89 mm are spring-loaded and installed 1.5 mm above the roller level. Even a small load application pushes them onto the roller level – this ensures the permanent contact between the unit load and the brake roller and thus reliable deceleration.

      • Galler Trolley-System

      • The push-back trolley system is gentler on the stored goods and can be an alternative to simple push-back racking. It provides the same benefits and range of possible applications, but in addition, it allows the pressure-free storage of the goods.

        Push-back and flow racks both have inclined roller lanes. The drawback of this system is that during storage and retrieval, the goods or pallets touch each other and the goods cannot be stored without dynamic pressure. The push-back trolley racking system combines the advantages of a roller rack with those of a drive-in rack where storage is on a level surface: With this system, the unit loads are put on trolleys with a level load deck.

        Up to five trolleys can be used per lane.

        How It Works

        The trolleys run on ball-bearing steel rollers in a rail system. Because of the excellent running properties of these rollers, the rails require only a very small inclination of only 2.5 %. This means that even with heavy pallets, the truck does not have to apply much pushing force when storing new pallets.

        The sizes of the trolleys are such that they fit underneath each other – if the channel is empty, all trolleys sit on top of each other at the loading face. When filling the channel, a pallet is loaded on the topmost trolley.

        • The push-back trolley supports all three skids of a pallet. This makes the system independent of the quality of the pallets and particularly suited to the crosswise storage of pallets. Even damaged pallets can be stored.

      • Galler flow levels with wheel tracks

      • Galler's order picking flow levels can be designed as stand-alone solutions or they can be integrated into the Galler pallet rack. Pallet storage bins can be arranged in the racking bay above the order picking levels, allowing the replenishment of the wheel track flow levels without long travel distances.

        Order picking flow racks can make the picking of small parts or packages of any size significantly more efficient. The flow racks are based on the “first in, first out” principle. The stored goods move forward automatically on wheel tracks to reach the retrieval point. This compact storage method keeps travel distances for order picking extremely short. The compact racks with their small sizes are an attractive option for environments where there is a large assortment of goods with a high turnover.

        Guide tracks

        The tracks are made from galvanised, torsion-resistant sheet steel. They guide and separate the stored goods on the sides. They come in maximum lengths of 6,000 mm to 20,000 mm. The channel width can be adjusted without tools. The guide tracks are also available in tubular design (diameter 20 mm, length up to 2,500 mm). For special applications, customised guide tracks are available.

        Support adapters

        To allow the integration of the flow frames into all system support structures, Galler offers support adapters that can be adjusted to the individual application scenario. They speed up assembly and come with lateral keyholes with a 20-mm pitch. Their standard height is 1,800 mm.

      • Galler AMS for containers or trays

      • Customers demand fast delivery times and high delivery quality. Picking operations must be able to meet these demands. Automated miniload systems can provide the necessary turnover performance.

        The automated miniload system (AMS) is a self-contained storage system that consists of individual single-storage racks, automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS), storage equipment such as containers or trays, and a picking area in front. The entire racking system, which can be up to 12 metres high, is frequently completely enclosed. The AS/RS pulls the tray or container off the rack shelf onto the load handling equipment, moves it to the picking area (or onto a conveyor leading to the picking area) and then collects it again from there.Die Regalbediengeräte unserer Systemintegratoren-Partner erreichen hohe Beschleunigungen bzw.         The AS/RS units provided by our system integration partners accelerate quickly and move, lift and store items at great speed. This allows the AMS to achieve an excellent turnover performance. The load capacity of the AS/RS units is typically between 50 and 300 kilogrammes.

        AMS are always customised for the individual storage goods, unit loads and logistical requirements. Accordingly, each racking system must be built based on an individual design: Shelf heights and widths must be tailored to the containers or trays that will be used. The rack height is also made to measure to accommodate the required storage capacities.

        In sum, AMS systems with their high-bay structure and use of automation allow very high volume utilisation and excellent turnover performance. By using specialised software solutions for stock management, they enable constant stock level monitoring.

        Accessories for automated miniload systems

        Standard shelf

        The rack design is customised to match the desired storage equipment. The widths, heights and lengths of the shelves can be adjusted accordingly.

        Angle support

        The angle supports can support trays as well as containers. They are riveted to the uprights and have an upturned edge as standard that functions as push-through protector.

      • Galler mezzanine floors

      • Mezzanine floors are self-supporting steel structures that can be walked on and, in some cases, also support vehicle traffic. The additional tier creates new floor space that can be used as work area, without changing the basic footprint of the building. The multi-tier structure allows the optimal utilisation of the cubic space: The structure can be installed above production systems, traffic routes and storage areas. This is an easy way to create additional storage space on the mezzanine itself and at the same time, new space below it, for example for production. The additional floor space created by the mezzanine floor has many versatile, low-cost uses, for example as offices or work area, production or exhibition floor, or as additional warehouse section.

        Accessories for mezzanine floors

        Pallet safety gate

        The pallet safety gate provides maximum fall protection at transfer stations. The swivel gate is always closed on one side – regardless of the direction in which the transfer is made.

        Pallet transfer station

        The transfer station is a low-cost component with a solid structural design and comes in different sizes. A chain barrier is used for fall protection. These types of pallet transfer stations are recommended by the German Employers' Liability Insurance Association.

      • Galler shelf racks – for versatile combinations

      • Shelf racks are an important component for the optimal utilisation of warehouse floor space. They offer high flexibility with regard to the stored goods because the goods are set down on continuous surfaces, which does not require any storage equipment.

        Flexibility is the strongest advantage of a shelf rack to allow the storage of items without any special containers or storage equipment. For this reason, shelf racking systems are used primarily for the storage and picking of non-palletised unit loads, small parts in containers, items in secondary packages, or loose goods.

        With Galler shelf racks, items are fairly easy to see and easy to reach; and shelf racks require only a relatively modest investment.

        The shelves of Galler shelf racks simply slot into the T frame for quick assembly. The height can be between 1,800 mm and 7,500 mm, operation can be from one side or both sides, and there are four different widths and various depths available. With these configuration options, the shelf racking system can be adapted to the physical conditions on site and the goods that will be stored. They system also allows the construction of multi-tier racking systems.

        Versatile shelves

        Galler shelves are available in widths of 750 mm, 1,000 mm, 1,300 mm and 1,500 mm and in many different depths (300 to 1,000 mm). This means they can be optimally adapted to the existing storage space and the goods that will be stored.

        Shelf loads

        Depending on the desired load per shelf, Galler offers four different types of shelves. The shelves rated for 85 kg and 150 kg, respectively, are suited for the optimal adjustment of the compartment heights because their structural height is only 25 mm. Heavy loads of 250 kg and 330 kg, respectively, require our heavy-duty shelves with a thickness of 40 mm.

      • Galler cantilever racks - individual and flexible

      • Cantilever racks are extremely strong storage systems for the storage of long goods and bulky items. These may include pipes, steel sections, sheet metal, wooden beams or wooden boards. Even scrapped vehicles, sail ships and all types of heavy loads can be stored on this type of racks. Cantilever racks represent an efficient alternative to floor storage. The goods rest directly on the cantilevers without any support at the front. This makes it possible to access the stored goods directly without any need for labour-intensive re-stacking, which helps to avoid damage to the goods. In addition, it is much easier to monitor stock levels.

        Use in outdoor installations

        For the use in outdoor installations, Galler offers the cantilever racking systems in a high-quality, durable hot-dip galvanised version in compliance with DIN EN ISO 1461. In addition, the stored goods can be protected from the weather with wall and roof elements attached to the cantilever racks.

        Accessories for cantvelier racks

        Cantilever arms

        The cantilever arms are tapered towards the front. This shape allows a greater compartment height at the front which makes it significantly easier to store and retrieve items in day-to-day use. The cantilever arms of the heavy-duty system are made from hot-rolled IPE steel sections. The solid material guarantees that hidden rust cannot occur. They are bolted to the vertical columns using the hole patterns with either 100 mm or 50 mm spacing. This allows the individual storage levels to the optimally adapted to the goods that will be stored.

        Roll-off stop

        To prevent round items from rolling off the cantilever rack, pins are installed at the ends of the cantilever arms that serve as roll-off stops.

      • Galler high-bay racking - rack clad pallet warehouses

      • High-bay racking silos are used to store large quantities of an item with a high turnover rate. At the same time, the high-bay pallet rack also takes on the function of a load-carrying building structure. This means that the roof and wall cladding is fastened to the rack structure; they are also called rack clad warehouses. This method provides a number of advantages, first during the construction phase and also later during operation. For example, the compact design allows a highly efficient utilisation of the available project site. Costs can be saved that are otherwise incurred for buildings, and the warehouse shell can be treated like production equipment for tax purposes.

        It might seem that high-bay warehouses do not leave architects a lot of freedom for artistic expression. The rack structure is simultaneously the bearing structure of the building, the racks and the logistics machinery determine the shape. This means that any artistic design is limited to the outer shell. However, accepting this design challenge can be rewarding. Because due to their size, high-bay warehouses turn into a defining feature of the landscape – whether located in an industrial estate or in an open field.

        A building shell with a sophisticated design can become a kind of canvas, a response of the industrial building to its environment and a means of mutual architectural communication.

        Ultimately, it does embody the corporate image and it makes an essential contribution to the acceptance of the company by the local community. Building such a large structure does create responsibility, and for this reason, the architectural design should not be neglected when planning a high-bay warehouse.

        Accessories for roof and walls

        Dome light

        Dome lights have multiple purposes: They allow natural light to enter the structure, but they also allow smoke to escape in the event of a fire. For this purpose, they are implemented as smoke heat exhaust ventilation systems (SHEVs) that can be triggered by thermo-automatic, thermo-pneumatic or thermo-electrical actuators. In addition to its function as a fire safety device, the dome light can also be used for the ventilation of the warehouse via a separate controller.

        Standard wall design

        The wall cassettes are built from plastic-coated continuously galvanised sheet steel. The elements are bolted directly to the rack beams. Insulation panels made from mineral wool insulate the storage space; trapezoidal sheet steel with vertical beading is bolted on the outside to form the facade. Cold bridges are insulated with adhesive neoprene tape.
