Qioptiq has added new functionalities to their lens selection tool. The latest version of MachVis 4.0 includes the high-performance mag.x system 125 inspection system, the flo.x 2.8/3.35 liquid lens objective, and the inspec.x L 5.6/105 float lens. There is also a customized configurator for the mag.x system 125, the ideal aid in determining optimum application solutions.

The basic conditions for equipment used in vision technology are generally determined by such factors as operating distance, object size, sensor size and camera mount. The MachVis software from Qioptiq is an extremely useful tool for determining the best way to accomplish optical metrology tasks. With only four parameters entered, initial calculations can be generated and complete systems assembled. It is so easy to use, even the “optical amateur” can calculate optical specifications in no time. The Qioptiq lens database, included in delivery, lists all of the possible lenses with their accessories. The results can even be stored together with project-specific notes. Three-dimensional models are available now for download, as are specification sheets on lenses and accessories.

Additionally, a special configurator for use with the high-performance “mag.x system 125” inspection system has been developed and integrated into version 4.0. Thanks to the modular design of the system, the base unit can be fitted with any of a number of illumination options. The MachVis utility also presents the objectives and tube lenses available for the desired reproduction scale.

The inspec.x L 5.6/105 float inspection lens has been added to the familiar search algorithm as well. The inspec.x L 5.6/105 float is prepared for motorization, and with its floating element it delivers extraordinary performance over the broad 0.3 to 3-fold imaging scale range. Another addition is the flo.x 2.8/3.35 liquid lens objective with S-Mount, which enables focusing with no mechanical moving parts.

The new MachVis 4.0 is equipped with a variety of algorithms and options. Thus a number of different lens types and systems can be configured, so that the optimum solution can always be found for the desired machine vision application. In the process, Qioptiq makes the most of the latest different approaches coming out of today’s research and development.
