S.I.M.A.

Company Profile

S.I.M.A. was founded in 1943 by two young men grown and trained in the Irish textile field: Alberto Mazzoni and Gino Serra. S.I.M.A. in its beginning, manufactured ancillary machines for spinning and twisting such as winders and other finishing machines like twine ballers and small twisters. Later S.I.M.A. specialized in the manufacture of Machinery for ropes and twisted yarns for roperies and soon became leader in this field, strengthening its presence in over 80 countries in the world, among which: Australia, France, Germany, England, Scandinavia, U.S.A., Russian Federation. Early in the 1970, S.I.M.A. realized that the future would demand a quick technological innovation and therefore strengthened considerably its own research and development departments. The result was a launch onto the market of a series of models of absolutely revolutionary rope layers and twisters which traced a new path in the field of twine and rope making machinery. By mid 1980, S.I.M.A. considered that it would be important to be able to supply complete installations including lines for yarn manufacture, completing its production upstream of the twisting and rope making phase. Aiming at not taking away technical resources from its widely accepted line of products, this development was carried out throught the taking over of PROMATECH, a Company specialized in the manufacture of complete extrusion lines for the processing of plastic material and particular of drawn fibres. From the beginning of 1992, PROMATECH has been incorporated in S.I.M.A. S.I.M.A. is able today to offer to customers a complete knowhow, from pellet processing to packing of finished produet, availing itself also of the most modern systems of computer aided design (CAD). In 1991 a further production increase and the introduction of new technologies demanded a radical re-organization and further strenghtening of S.I.M.A. with subsequent move to the very modern factory at Crespellano, near Bologna, spread on a surface of 40.000 square metres, 20.000 of which assigned to production departments and 3.000 to office and services, and where 150 people are working.
