      • Carbonate Fuel Cell Power Plants

          • 1500 - 1.4 MW Carbonate Fuel Cell Power Plant

          • Designed for a range of on-site power applications, FuelCell Energy’s 1500 power plant generates 1.4 MW of reliable, efficient, and ultra-clean power. Operating from a compact footprint, the 1500 is ideal for sites with limited space and can combine with more modules to meet higher power demands.
          • 3000 - 2.8 MW Carbonate Fuel Cell Power Plant

          • Comprised of two 1500 plants, FuelCell Energy’s 3000 generates 2.8 MW of reliable, efficient, and ultra-clean power. On-site power can maximize a site’s production uptime by avoiding costly outages. The plant’s electrochemical process results in electricity, heat, and water, with the ability to recycle CO2 into a valuable product.
        • Solid oxide fuel cells

              • 250 kW Power-generation System

              • Solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) systems will be capable of running as an electrolyzer for hydrogen production or as a fuel cell for electricity production. The 250 kW fuel cell will be capable of running on a wide range of fuels including natural gas, renewable biogas, or hydrogen.
          • Hydrogen Energy Storage

                • Enabling renewable energy

                • UNDER DEVELOPMENT

Excess power from wind and solar can be converted into hydrogen and stored for long periods, then converted back to power when needed. We believe that hydrogen is the cleanest and most cost effective solution for storing and transporting large amounts of renewable energy.

            • Power

                • Utilities and Independent Power Producers

                      • Embrace the new energy landscape

                      • FuelCell Energy's platforms can help utilities and independent power producers transition to net zero while strengthening grid reliability. Our systems are proven to add clean distributed power while enhancing grid resiliency. The fuel cell power plant's compact design, quiet operation, and clean emissions profile make it easy to site in populated areas.

As utilities adjust to more intermittent power generation from wind and solar, innovative solutions will be required to improve the effectiveness of renewables. Our technologies, both current and in development, help solve this problem by providing clean power to compensate for undersupply and store power during oversupply using hydrogen.

                  • Microgrids

                      • Co-locate supply and demand

                      • Co-locate supply and demand
Our fuel cell plants can be configured as microgrids, supplying power to the grid during normal operation and islanding to provide power in the event of a disturbance. This ensures a constant power supply for critical infrastructure.

Through our Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), customers can add a fuel cell microgrid to their facility without the upfront investment. We offer ongoing service, support, and monitoring to assure your asset will continue to run at peak performance.

                      • Powering critical facilities

                      • A 2.2 MW fuel cell microgrid in Woodbridge, Connecticut provides power to a local high school and other nearby buildings. During power outages, the fuel cell switches to microgrid mode to provide reliable and uninterrupted power to seven critical town facilities.

The fuel cell microgrid in Woodbridge also supplies heat to the local high school. When configured for combined heat and power (CHP), the overall system efficiency increases, using fewer resources to produce more power.

                    • Industrial

                        • Food and Beverage

                            • Making CO2 work for your business

                            • How will you use recycled CO2?
Businesses are setting aggressive net-zero targets as the planet looks to reduce emissions. FuelCell Energy presents a compelling opportunity for manufacturers to make progress on their sustainability goals. Our plant's electrochemical process results in electricity, heat, and water, with the ability to recycle CO2 into a valuable product.

Once captured and concentrated by the fuel cells, the CO2 has many potential uses. CO2 can be used for beverage bottling, food processing, cooling, welding, dry ice production, metal fabrication, water treatment, fire suppression, and to aid in the production of cement and plastics.

                            • Reliable on-site power and heat

                            • FuelCell Energy's platforms provide the majority of power to Pepperidge Farm's state-of-the-art bakery facility in Bloomfield, Connecticut. The 260,000-square-foot manufacturing facility runs three shifts and relies on on-site power from its fuel cell system.

Heat from the fuel cell plant is used to support bakery operations, which helps reduce fuel needs for plant boilers. When used in combined heat and power applications (CHP), the overall system efficiency can be up to 80 percent, using fewer resources to produce more power.

                          • Industrial Process Applications

                              • Self-generate continuous power

                              • Our platforms can provide manufacturers and research facilities with reliable on-site heat and electricity for industrial processes. When configured as a microgrid, a fuel cell plant can provide a continuous supply of power in the event of a grid outage.

Fuel cells generate electricity and heat through an electrochemical reaction, contributing to ultra-clean baseload power and providing a backup solution. FuelCell Energy offers a unique decarbonization platform with the ability to capture CO2 and simultaneously generate power — whether the fuel cell runs on natural gas or biogas.

                              • Powering resilient research

                              • FuelCell Energy installed a 5.6 MW fuel cell system to power Pfizer's 160-acre research and development facility in Groton, Connecticut. Under a Purchase Power Agreement (PPA), Pfizer agreed to purchase power and steam from FuelCell Energy for 20 years. The installation forms part of a combined heat and power (CHP) system that runs parallel with the grid and provides standby power in case of outages.
                            • Transportation

                                • Hydrogen Fueling

                                    • 100% renewable power and fuel

                                    • The tri-generation system being installed at Toyota's Port of Long Beach site will use directed renewable biogas to deliver hydrogen, electricity, and water. The carbon-neutral 2.3 MW fuel cell plant will completely power the site, supply hydrogen to fuel vehicles, reduce the port's emissions, and export electricity to the Southern California grid. Our platform will generate water as a byproduct, decreasing the port's water usage in an area impacted by drought.
                                    • Expedited clean air permitting

                                    • FuelCell Energy's power plants have received key certifications under the California Air Resources Board’s (CARB) distributed generation standards. The CARB 2007 certification allows the local air quality management districts in California to exempt the fuel cell installation from the clean air permitting process, which accelerates the approval process. Outside of California, the CARB 2007 certification independently validates the clean air profile of our plants.
                                  • Buildings

                                      • Data Centers

                                            • Reliable on-site power

                                            • FuelCell Energy's platforms can be configured as a building's primary power source, making them an ideal solution for decentralized data centers looking for reliable energy. Fuel cells generate electricity and heat through an electrochemical reaction, contributing to ultra-clean baseload power and providing a backup solution.
                                        • Hospitals

                                              • Hospitals rely on energy to provide critical services for the people in our communities. Our platforms can help hospitals advance sustainability goals while saving on energy. Through our Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), hospitals can upgrade facilities without the upfront investment.

FuelCell Energy's 1.4 MW plant generates savings for Hartford Hospital by producing ultra-clean electricity and heat. The small footprint, quiet operation, and clean emissions profile make fuel cell systems easy to site on a hospital's campus.

                                          • Universities

                                                • Sustainable, affordable, and reliable

                                                • FuelCell Energy's platforms can help universities reduce power costs and advance their sustainability goals. Fuel cells emit water vapor rather than pollutants. Heat generated by the fuel cells can be used for facility heating to reduce or replace the need for combustion-based boilers.

The plant's clean emissions profile, combined with its compact design and quiet operation, make it easy to site on campus. When configured as a microgrid, the plant can provide a continuous supply of power to critical infrastructure in the event of a grid outage.
