Product Portfolio
  • Sanding technology for surfaces, edges and profiles

  • For more than 80 years Heesemann produces sanding machines for industry and handicraft. During this time some essential and trend-setting innovations were made, which still endure. Heesemann has consistently provided new impulses and expedited sanding technology. Until today we have got the pretension to fulfill this role being the innovation leader in sanding technology and are doing everything to meet this claim.

      • Heesemann sanding machines for processing wood
    • Solid wood and panel processing

        • Solid wood processing

        • Today the surface qualities demanded from solid wood are comparable to those obtained with veneers. Consequently, the requirements placed on calibrating machines in the furniture and panel industry have been extended beyond a purely dimensional stability towards a high surface quality. Heesemann machines possess important technical advantages for the calibration of solid lumber panels, solid wood frames and parquet material.
        • Panel processing

        • Dimension accuracy and fine surfaces also play an important role in the calibration of chipboard, MDF, wood core plywood and plywood. Surfaces must be perfectly sanded especially for subsequent lamination or coating with foils. To this must be added a high working capacity and functional safety as special processing requirements to be able to cope with large production quantities as encountered in the panel industry. Heesemann calibration machines meet this requirement. They combine modern technology and capacity reserves.
      • Veneer sanding

      • The application of veneered workpieces is just as versatile as their multitude of design possibilities. In everyday production we encounter crosswise or longitudinally veneered workpieces, with rounded, rectangular, irregular shapes, with and without cutouts. In addition, an increasing spectrum of parts are to be sanded, from soft to hard veneers - in part with inlay work on one side - or with overhanging solid lippings. Due to economic reasons veneers become thinner and thinner. For this reason particularly innovative sanding technology solutions must imply a high degree of flexibility for industrially manufactured veneered parts.

Heesemann veneer sanding machines are equipped for this task with:
          • Lacquer sanding and high-gloss production

              • Lacquer sanding

              • The trend is clear - applied low quantities and stains and lacquers containing as little solvent as possible. For surface finishing UV lacquers with a high solids content, water based lacquers, waxes and low solvent stains are increasingly being used. Application quantities of markedly less than 10 g/m2 are no longer rare occurences.
              • High gloss sanding

              • For high gloss surfaces the combination of cross and longitudinal sanding belts is established. Heesemann employs cross sanding machines here, with which even at fine grits a constant material teardown is effected and by cross sanding method a high quality surface is achieved. This technology results in a constantly plane surface.
            • Surface sanding machines

            • Heesemann surface sanding machines to calibrate glued panels, solid wood frames and parquet, to sand veneer, to do an intermediate lacquer sanding and to produce high-gloss surfaces.

A special veneer sheet guidance by combining press-on rollers and press-on lips allows absolutely accurate calibration and clean sanding of the surface.

Height positioning for every roller unit is made by servodrives. This adjustment can also be made automatically und independently for each roller. The machine is operated by an Industrial PC.

The FBA 8 is available in working widths of 650 mm and 1,350 mm.
                • OSR I

                • When sanding frames and other work pieces with different grain directions sanding against the grain direction cannot be avoided. The generated scratch patterns are very evident, especially when dark stains are used. The Heesemann orbital sanding unit removes these scratches and leaves a clean surface with no visible scratches.

The work pieces have to be prepared on a calibrating machine (e.g. a Heesemann MFA 10) to remove irregularities of thickness from glued connections and remains of glue. In this process the scratches of the abrasives continuously become finer. Heesemann OSR I removes sharp edges and finally all visible sanding marks.
                • OSR II

                • OSR II combines both, a calibrating machine and orbital scratch removal (OSR) units, in one machine. Irregularities of thickness from glued connections and remains of glue are removed by two or three contact rollers. Due to the succession of a steel contact roller and one or two rubber-coated contact rollers the scratches from the abrasives continuously become finer. The longitudinal sanding unit with a pressure segment belt makes them even finer. The optional RUT disk brush unit removes sharp edges from the work pieces. Finally two OSR units remove all visible sanding marks. In order to minimize vibrations in the calibration process produced by OSR units the contact rollers and the OSR units are mounted on separate supports.

When sanding frames and other work pieces with different grain directions sanding against the grain direction cannot be avoided. The generated scratch patterns are very evident, especially when dark stains are used. The Heesemann orbital sanding unit removes these scratches and leaves a clean surface with no visible scratches.
              • 3D & Edge sanding machines

              • Heesemann sanding machines to sand 3-dimensionally shaped surfaces and edges.
                  • BM 8

                  • Using a brush machine is indispensable for versatile applications e.g. for processing workpiece edges after lacquering, for chamfering sharp edges as well as for the removal of overlapping lacquer and filler material or for sanding composite workpieces resp. workpieces with cutouts having a surface which cannot be reached by a common surface and profile sanding machine.

After lamination or veneering brush machines can be used for burr removal. For structuring wooden and other surfaces and for smoothening filler and lacquered surfaces brush machines are predestinated, too.
                  • UKP 20

                  • The Heesemann edge and profile sanding machines use belt sanding units and brush units for constant sanding of the workpieces. By means of a flexible suspension of the sanding shoes the sanding units adapt optimally to the profile tolerances. UKP machines can be equipped with milling units, lacquer application devices as well as UV drying units.

The position of the units is readable at digital displays. In case of frequent profile changes the units can be quickly readjusted by means of NC control. As a standard feature the sanding shoes are equipped with a quick changing device. For automated processes revolving tools can be integrated into the sanding units. To ensure a high surface quality, that can be compared with the cross sanding method in surface sanding, straight edges can be cross sanded prior to longitudinal sanding. The easy operation is ensured by an Industrial PC with program memory and fault diagnosis system.
                •  Deburring & Edge chamfering profiRounder units

                • profiRounder features 4 different units: Contact rollers, disk brush units, Fladder 300/Gyro and brush roller units. All units can be mounted on the base machine as well as on the extension modules without any constraints. Free spaces can be provided in the modules for upgrading at a later date. The Fladder unit requires the space of two units. It can only be mounted in a 2 units extension module.
                    • Contact roller unit

                    • The profiRounder contact roller unit reliably removes any burr and generates a uniform structure on the surface of the work pieces. The edges can be rounded in this process, too.

The contact roller units work with a rubber-coated steel roller (standard hardness 60° Shore) with a diameter of 250 mm (9.84 inch) and can be equipped with frequency controlled drive motors with up to 22 kW (29.5 hp). Sanding belt speeds between 1.7 m/s and 28 m/s are possible. The surface of the roller is grooved in a spiral shape. This allows a better cooling of the roller and makes it easier to extract the generated abrasive dust.

Premature grain break-outs are minimized due to the special orientation of the contact roller units on the machinery base. There are nearly no oscillation marks visible and the useful time of the sanding belts is increased to a multiple. The sanding result remains consistent for a longer time.
                    • Disk brush unit RUT

                    • The RUT unit can be used to generate radii of 2 mm and more without any difficulty. This is the result of an intensive co-operation with different producers of abrasives and is realized using newly developed abrasive materials.

The RUT disk brush unit consists of 18 disk brushes. Their arrangement allows even processing of all areas, even at embossments of up to 30 mm,in different directions.

The frequency controlled drive system permits an infinitely variable regulation of the disk brushes rotation speed up to 1,500 rpm and their orbital velocity transversally to the feed direction.
                    • Fladder 300/Gyro

                    • profiRounder is the only machine in the world the worldwide well-known Fladder 300/Gyro unit can be integrated to. With this unit profiRounder can remove even very rough slag and oxides without any difficulty. In addition the typical Fladder surface can be created.

The six spindles of the sanding head of the Fladder unit rotate pairwise in opposite directions (clockwise / counterclockwise) to realize a homogeneous sanding of the work pieces as well as an even wear of the abrasives. The sanding head rotates with the six spindles on its own axis and oscillates over the width of the conveyor belt.

The Fladder unit can be equipped with abrasive cylinders, deslagging or oxide removing tools in different diameters and lengths.
                    • Brush roller

                    • In comparison to sanding using a sanding belt the fleece rollers of the profiRounder create an even more consistent matt or matt-finished surface. They are available in different grains between very fine and very rough. The fine glazing marks add up to a decorative surface. The special orientation of the roller guarentees the longest possible useful life of the abrasive.

Fleece and Anderlon brush rollers can be dressed by means of an automatic dressing device inside the machine. This minimizes the maintenance effort for dressing the brush roller to an absolute minimum. This procedure can be repeated several times ensuring the creation of an even and reproducable surface for a long period of time.

In addition to fleece and Anderlon brush rollers, brush rollers out of stainless steel or other metal strands can be used.
                  • Sanding lines

                  • To process the top and the bottom side of workpieces in one pass Heesemann offers sanding machines working from above and underneath. These machines can be delivered with sanding widths between 1,300 mm and 2,600 mm. Those sanding lines minimize handling costs significantly. The machines can be placed in direct succession and both machines can be controlled by one operating terminal.

                        • The CSD® system

                        • Our CSD® magntic pressure beam system has been proven and tested for more than two decades as the solution for adaptable processing. The sanding result of a sanding unit with the CSD® system is unreached by other systems till this day.

                          Functional Principle
The precise control of the sanding pressure is decisive for a high-grade, uniform surface sanding quality. The computer-controlled selective pressure regulation of the CSD® magnetic beam system can smoothly adjust the sanding pressure to every individual element in the pressure beam within milliseconds. It is particularly important with asymmetrical and round workpieces that the unique CSD® system allows fine adjustment of the contact pressure force in the edge area.

                          CSD® plus
CSD® plus is the further development of our established CSD® system. CSD® plus provides two seperatly adjustable pressure beams in one sanding unit and produces an even finer sanding quality.
                        • EnergyManagement-System

                        • The EnergyManagement-System is a system to save energy, from which our environment and the machine-user benefit to the same degree. A diminished energy consumption unburdens the environment and reduces the cost.

The unit drive motors are designed to fulfil the requirements for the highest energy efficiency class. If no workpieces are being fed into the machine, they are run down to a low speed and a flap is closed at the suction tension blower to extremely reduce the air throughput. Depending on its acual load, this reduces the energy consumption of the machine quite considerably. When new workpieces are fed into the machine, all motors are rapidly started up again.

If the customer-supplied extraction system provides this option the machine can prevent the airflow through units that are not in operation by controlling closure flaps attached to the individual extraction hoods and thus make the extraction system save energy.
                        • Machinery base: Low-vibration and torsion-resistant

                        • The integral design has brought forth a machine stand with even higher rigidity. Vibrations have been reduced even more, just like the noise emissions. Apart from that, this design allows us to place the vacuum fan inside the machine stand in a space-saving manner.

                          Special Highlights
                          • The channels for the workpiece suction device are integrated inside the machine body.
                          • A constant vacuum is created over the entire surface of the transport table.
                          • The lifting gears are connected by Cardan shafts.
                          • The sanding units are adjusted in their height while the position of the machinery housing remains unchanged.
                          • This results in a constant working and terminal height.
                        • Compact design

                        • The Heesemann compact design has the advantage that the sanding machines are delivered completely wired and in one piece. This way time is saved on loading and the risk of a wrong wiring on installation is excluded.

The compact design concerns all Heesemann surface sanding machines. Delivering the machines in one piece allows an extremely fast integration of the machines in existing lines. The result are momentary interruptions in your production. By a clear closed body of the machines with no overlapping drives or units the danger of collisions with internal transport vehicles is minimized significantly. The compact design also boosts the tidiness around the machine.
                        • Industrial PC with web diagnosis

                        • All Heesemann machines are equipped with a powerful and highly flexible industrial PC. All frequently repeated adjustment values are graphically displayed clearly on one screen page.

In addition, this industrial pc provides diversified applications for diagnosis and the ability to use peripheral equipment at standard interfaces. Furthermore it can be connected to internal and external networks using ethernet TCP/IP or modem. The industrial PC acts like a web server and is diagnosable at standard browsers.

The industrial PC is available in 10.4" and 15" screen size. The 15" model provides an additional module to record operating data and is moveable to the operators' eye-height by a pivot mounted arm.
                        • Sanding belt cleaning / Workpiece cleaning

                        • Sanding belt cleaning
For a first-class sanding result and long lifetime of the sanding belts an effective sanding belt cleaning system is an essential condition.

The intermitting Heesemann blasting system cleans directly behind the sanding area at the height of the return roller. At this place the pores of the sanding belt are opened optimally. Due to the combination of blasting and extraction a maximum cleaning effect is ensured. Another positive effect of this favourable configuration is the low extraction volume and a low compressed air consumption.

                          Workpiece cleaning
Particularly for the thin lacquer coatings which become more and more common a perfect workpiece cleaning is getting more essential.

The Heesemann range of sanding machines include various systems for cleaning the surfaces and edges. Cleaning brushes are a standard feature of our machines. In addition a compressed air rotating unit including an extraction duct can be offered. For an extensive cleaning a separate dust removing machine EA 10 with an integrated compressed air ventilator is available. This unit can also be supplied as a seperate cleaning machine EA 10-C with an own industrial PC for installation in front of lacquer lines. For neutralizing the electrostatic charge ionization bars are available.
                        • Servo drives with water cooling system

                        • Due to the use of new and extremely thin lacquer systems it can become necessary to reduce the sanding belt speeds to lower speeds than generally achievable with frequency inverters.

As a trend-setting innovation for this purpose Heesemann offers equipment with most modern drive technology. Even at minimum belt speeds of 0.1 m/s the water-cooled servo drives allow a constant and safe belt running at full sanding power without any fluctuations in speed. Machines equipped with these servomotors can be used for water lacquer systems for example. The water-cooled servo drives are comparable to efficiency class IE 4.
                        • Poly-V belt drive: high-quality and powerful

                        • Smooth-running sanding units
The employment of ripped belts provide a high running smoothness of Heesemann sanding machines. Contrary to multiple single v-belts these ripped belts run with considerably lower vibration. The velocity-synchronous drive of both guide rollers at the unit allow a high power transmission at low sanding belt tension. This permits a high pressure beam tolerance compensation and a high sanding belt adaptability on distorted workpieces and workpieces with certain amounts of tolerance. In addition, the sanding units' running smoothness is optimized through fine-balanced rolls.
                      • Heesemann sanding units

                      • Heesemann sanding machines offer a wide reportory of units mountable on the machinery base. The machine is arranged according to the customers needs. These units are available:
                          • Contact roller unit

                          • The Heesemann contact roller units are offered with steel rollers as well as with rubber-coated rollers in different Shore hardnesses. Both models are deliverable with different roller diameters.

The contact roller unit with a 250 mm steel roller for example allows the exact calibration of materials like solid wood, flake boards, MDF or plastics. The surface of the roller is grooved in a spiral shape. This allows a better cooling of the roller and makes it easier to extract the generated abrasive dust.

Contact roller units with rubber-coated rollers can be delivered as well. Depending on their Shore hardness they can be used for varying sanding tasks.

The contact roller unit can be equipped with different kinds of press-on lips depending on the requirements.
                          • Cross sanding unit

                          • For wooden surfaces the cross sanding method achieves the worldwide accepted best sanding result. The workpiece are sanded crosswise to the grain direction first and are afterwards sanded in direction of the grain with one or more sanding units.

This way the higher standing harder areas of the annual rings are leveled and loosened fibres are sheared off whereby a wash out effect is avoided and the fibres can not straighten up again after lacquering.

The Heesemann cross sanding units are equipped with the Heesemann CSD® magnetic pressure beam system and a pressure segment belt. They are available as three-point and four-point units as well as with commonly or separately driven pressure segment belt.
                          • Longitudinal sanding unit

                          • The longitudinal sanding units of the Heesemann surface sanding machines are equipped with the well-proven CSD® magnetic pressure beam system. Optionally they can be equipped with an eccentric bearing of the first bend pulley for slight calibration processes, with a pressure segment belt running inside and with the even finer CSD® plus system.

The longitudinal sanding units are available with sanding belt lengths of 2,150 mm (MFA Impression), 2,620 mm and 3,250 mm (MFA 10 and above). An optional pneumatical support makes it easier to exchange the sanding belts fastly.

The internally running pressure segment belt is an addition that makes sense for many applications. The pressure segment belt interrupts the sanding traces of the grit and achieves a even more harmonious sanding result. If a very fine grit is used for lacquer sanding the pressure segment belt may significantly increase the lifetime of the abrasive material.

The front bend pulley can be equipped with an eccentric bearing for slight calibration processes that can be activated using the command terminal.
                          • Orbital sanding unit

                          • On sanding frames and other workpieces with different grain directions sanding crosswise to the grain direction can not be avoided. The generated sanding traces are strongly in evidence especially if dark stains are used. The Heesemann orbital sanding unit removes these traces.

The unit works based on a frequency controlled eccentric vibration with big hub. An additional segment belt press-on system moves between the pressure beam and a vibrating sanding belt crosswise to the feed direction.

Hereby the sanding traces of the vibrating sanding belt are interrupted and a harmonious sanding result without any disturbing sanding traces is achieved.
                          • RUT disk brush unit

                          • The RUT disk brush unit consists of 19 disk brushes. Their arrangement allows the sanding of contours in an up to now unreached quality. All areas are evenly sanded in different directions.

The frequency controlled drive system permits a continuous regulation of the disk brushes rotation speed their orbital velocity transversally to the feed direction.

The disk brushes can be equipped with two different abrasives at the same time. Thus the RUT unit can sand in different granulations running in and against feed direction.

Due to the quick changing device replacing the disk brushes with fittings for sanding for example by structuring brushes can be done with a few handles.
                          • Brush units

                          • For Heesemann sanding machines a wide variety of brush units with different trimmings for sanding and structuring are available. The brush units can be mounted inclined to the feed direction or can be equipped with an oscillation.

Heesemann offers brushes with horsehair, fibre, sisal cord and mixed trimmings to clean the workpieces, fleece brushes to satin lacquered surfaces, brushes with Flextrim abrasive trimmings to sand 3-dimensional workpieces and brushes with Anderlon or stranded wire trimmings as well as twisted knot brushes to structure the workpieces.
