- A Frog AGV can handle all
your material handling needs - from small parts in totes weighing 50 pounds
to pallets and even steel coils or containers weighing 50 tons or more. A
Frog AGV can handle just about any load and move it automatically in most
environments, indoors or outdoors. Customers include multinationals such as
VW, General Motors, Nestlé, Sony and Hewlett Packard, but also smaller,
local manufacturers and (3rd party) warehousing companies.
- BoxRunners are Frog AGV’s designed to carry small loads:
e.g. cardboard or metal boxes and plastic totes. The vehicles are small and
the loads are light. Box Runner applications have been installed at (a.o.)
Sony and Delphi Automotive Systems.
Frog's BoxRunner is a multi-load vehicle, in some cases capable of handling
four loads at a time. Various load transfers can be used but the most common
ones are rollerdecks and belt shuttles. With these types of mechanisms the
handling height can be as low as 254mm (10”). The BoxRunners are usually
powered by NiCd batteries. For safety the vehicles are equipped with the
BEJO infrared obstacle detection sensors, contact strips and a flex bumper.
- PalletMovers are Frog AGV’s designed for transportation
of all pallet sizes. The load itself can range from glass bottles to large
computers, printers or steel sheets. PalletMover applications have been
installed at (a.o.) Nestlé, ACI and Hewlett Packard.
A Frog PalletMover is a unit load or dual load vehicle. A dual load
PalletMover will typically be fitted with a rollerdeck or chain conveyor.
The forklift style AGV, equipped with one or more sets of forks, is more
commonly found when the load weight is high, or in case loads need to be
picked up from floor level. Large Pallet Movers transporting heavy loads
will typically use lead-acid batteries and the certified Sick Sensor for
safety. Smaller vehicles could also be equipped with NiCd batteries and BEJO
sensors. In all cases the vehicles will be fitted with contact strips on the
- SpecialCarriers are Frog AGVs specially adapted to its
specific load. The vehicles are used for transportation of heavy loads or
odd sizes. SpecialCarrier applications have been realized (a.o.) in the
steel industry (Avesta, Corus) and medical sector (UMC).
The series of customized SpecialCarriers widely range in size, load (type
and weight), load transfer and operating environment. The (heavy-duty)
vehicles are often manufactured in close cooperation with specialized
partners, always paying special attention to the load transfer. Regarding
safety and energy management, all solutions can be offered.

- The supervisory control system, SuperFROG®, is
responsible for work scheduling, traffic control and fleet management.
Work scheduling, assigning transport requests to vehicles, is based on a
customized set of rules. They incorporate elements as vehicle availability,
distances, layout and transport requirements. An in-plant production
planning or warehouse management system (or SuperFROG®) can generate the
As a traffic cop, SuperFROG® directs traffic, e.g deciding which vehicle has
the right-of-way based on its’ priority. It also controls interaction
between vehicles and automatic doors, elevators and signaling. The traffic
cop function optimizes the total system, as vehicles do not have to wait for
each other to pass or doors to open.
- The FROG (Free Ranging On Grid) technology creates
intelligent vehicles that can operate in any industrial environment.
The on board FROG-box® controls the vehicle based on electronic maps (route
planning). While driving, the vehicle calculates the distance and direction
traveled by counting the number of wheel revolutions and measuring the
steering angle (odometry). External reference points are used to correct
small inaccuracies that may develop over time when compared to the original
planned route (calibration).
In addition to common calibration methods such as laser and inertial
guidance, Frog also offers dGPS (outdoor) and the patented FROG grid
solution. The grid is a systematic pattern of reference points – often
magnets embedded in the ground – offering the same free ranging capabilities
as laser, but without its disadvantages. Besides the navigation software and
the grid solution, Frog has developed several components for the safe and
reliable operation of Automated Guided Vehicles. These products include the
magnetic ruler and the infrared sensor BEJO.
- TomCat LM is the module that takes care of location
management in a warehouse, generating transport orders and tracking the
status of unit loads.
The function of transport order means that TomCat is responsible for having
the transports executed in a right sequence. The location management
function encompasses sending a transport to the proper destination;
remembering where each load is stored and being able to retrieve it from
TomCat works directly with SuperFROG. SuperFROG is connected to field I/O (f.i.
a pallet detection sensor) and data from this field I/O is send to TomCat.
Based on this information TomCat creates a job in its own database. The job
results in a transport for SuperFROG and SuperFROG sends an AGV for
executing the transport. When the AGV picks up the load, the load is
identified (e.g. by a barcode or an RFID label). Based on this load
identification TomCat finds a proper destination for the load.
CAN Conveyor Controller
- The CAN conveyor controller (C3), is a highly integrated
CANopen module. This compact controller is equipped with all necessary I/O
required for simple to very complex handling systems.
The C3 has two full multimode H-bridges for controlling driving motors up to
75W. Handling sensors like load detection, station communication etc, can be
connected directly to the C3. All logic and motor connections have separated
power supply lines. This also enables integration of motor power supply into
a safety circuit. The C3 CAN conveyor controller is protected against
overvoltage, overcurrent and polarity.
Choppers TwinDrive 30
- The Frog TwinDrive is a configurable double chopper servo
amplifier, for DC brush motors. In the default configuration it is suitable
for small Schabmuller type drive/steer motor combinations (e.g. the MIW 15
model). The Frog TwinDrive can be configurated to comply with other motors.
The heart of the Frog TwinDrive are two ELMO VIO-15/55 amplifiers. The
product is designed to meet the CE and the FCC regulations.
- The recently developed FrogBox L2 is an industrial
controller for compact, cost effective automatic guided vehicles. It allows
direct connections to sensory equipment for both I/O and power distribution,
aiding to the ease of installation and simplifying control cabinet layouts.
The FrogBox L2 can also be applied for all industrial control outside the
The FrogBox L2 is based on an upgradeable ETX PC platform, which supports
several operating systems. Frog AGV Systems supplies the platform with a
Linux operating system.
Frog Gyro MKII
- The Frog Gyro is a highly integrated single axis Fiber
Optic Rotation Sensor in a robust housing. It measures the angle around its'
vertical axis. The angle value has a resolution of 16 bits for the full
scale (-180° and +180°). This is a resolution of approximately 0.005°. The
heart of the sensor is the Litef μFors-36.
Hokuyo Infra Red
- This light-weight and compact optical data transmission
device is suitable for data transmission. Examples are interlocking with
AGV's and communication of AGV's with with docking stations, elevators,
doors or chargers.
The DMS-series are the parallel type of optical data transmission devices.
The DMS-series are available in two different versions, which differ in data
transfer capacity. Both the 4-bit and 8-bit data type are available in an
head-on or site-on transmission housing. For the transmission range a 1 or
3m range can be selected. The transmission range can be adjusted easily and
Magnetruler MMS L2
- Within the Frog-technology external reference points are
used for correction of possible inaccuracies (calibration). Calibration
technologies include laser, (magnet-) grid and dGPS. Calibration by means of
the patented magnet-grid requires the magnetruler as hardware.
The magnetruler contains a tubular waveguide enclosed by an extruded
aluminum housing. The magnetruler underneath the vehicle will detect the
magnets located in the floor and measure the position of every single
magnet. Depending on the ruler-version the corresponding output value is a
voltage with either a rising or a falling characteristic. Linear stroke
lengths of the magnetruler range from 530 to 2210mm.
Touch Screen Display
- The recent developed Frog Touch Screen Display is a
functional screen that makes sure that the most relevant information is
available at a glance from the main screen.
The Frog Touch Screen Display is based on a touch screen with a color
display of 5,6". The advanced panel has 320 x 240 pixels. The most relevant
information will be available at the main screen like current destination,
Load ID and battery status. Mechanically the new Frog Touch Screen Display
