            The stationary BioControl 2 automatically monitors and records the gas quality continuously and conveniently at a maximum of two measurement locations. The mobile gas measuring device, either the Multitec® 540 or the Multitec® 545, can also be used to manually calculate measurement values anywhere in a plant. Simply remove it from its docking station and connect it to a measurement location. When it is replaced in the docking station, the protocols are sent to the BioControl 2 and displayed.

            Biological processes generate gas compositions that make special demands on measuring equipment. The robust Multitec® 540 provides the ability to measure six gases simultaneously. The use of infrared measuring techniques for methane and carbon dioxide means that there is no possibility of misleading results due to interaction with other gases.             • Vehicle-based solution for the network inspection of underground gas pipes economical – laser-based – fully automatic

              The LaserGasPatroller is a vehicle-based solution for the economical network inspection of underground gas pipes. Gas leaks are detected when the laser-based measuring system LGP 800 is driven over the gas pipes. The LGP 800 is operated by the SeCuRi® SAT software system. SeCuRi® SAT is the world's most sophisticated documentation system for pipe network inspection.

              Measurement unit - LGP 800

              The LGP 800 measurement unit is built into a very compact 19" metal enclosure. Its space-saving design means that the measurement unit can be mounted anywhere in the vehicle. All components are tested under harsh conditions, particularly in respect of vibration, which is an everyday hazard.

              The LGP 800's sensor is based on the principle of Tunable Diode Laser Spectroscopy (TDLS). This method determines the concentration from a measured absorption of the gas in question, for example methane. The source of the radiation is a laser diode, which is why TDLS is classed as a laser spectroscopy technique. The laser measuring cell thus measures methane exclusively. There is no interference from other gases. The LGP 800 is also optimised with regard to electricity usage. With a maximum power consumption of 20 A, the system can be operated from a standard car battery. This means that electric vehicles can also be used.

              A leakplotter vehicle basically consists of the following components: the suction unit with bells for collecting samples, the measuring technology with FID and oxidiser, the notebook with the software controlled operating and documentation unit, and the option for GPS documentation along with the test set for automatic adjustments.               The Sewerin RMLD-IS (Methane Leak Detector) is the first device in a generation of laser gas detection devices that make it possible to work in an entirely new way. The RMLD-IS can be used to check areas that are hard to access.
              As the RMLD-IS laser beam passes through a methane cloud, it absorbs a specific range of the infrared light. This makes it possible for the user to detect the leak from a safe distance. This device is designed exclusively for detecting methane and has no cross-sensitivity with respect to other hydrocarbons. Gas concentration is calculated according to the amount of infrared light absorbed by the gas. If the gas cloud has a spread of 1 m and a concentration of 100 ppm, the resulting reading is 100 ppm*m. However, if a gas cloud with a concentration of 100 ppm is only 0.5 m wide, the measured value is 50 ppm*m.

                • Fresh air in the pit - inspect pits safely

                  Descending into the depths is dangerous. Large quantities of CO2 can be released due to pressure changes in wells and in ventilation shafts. Concentrations of more than 5 vol.% CO2 in the air a person breathes can lead to clouding or loss of consciousness or death. Faulty gas pipe lines near a pit or shaft are also dangerous. In narrow shafts, natural ventilation is insufficient. For this reason, providing for a supply of clean, fresh air is important before entering the shaft.

                    With regard to operational safety, test technology continues to grow in importance. The DVGW (German Technical and Scientific Association for Gas and Water) Code of Practice G 465-4 describes the tests required for various device classes.

                    The Sewerin test sets take these circumstances into account.                               Systematic leak detection

                              The SePem® system comprises the SePem® 01 Master receiver as well as any number of data loggers; the SePem® 100s are preferable for mobile use whereas the SePem® 150s are designed for permanent use. They are magnetically attached to valve rod extensions, or to hydrants or other fittings in the pipe network. The microphone integrated in the logger converts the structure-borne noise in the line to a sound signal. In this way, the path of the pipe in question can be determined quickly and exactly to the last meter.

                                        The mini pig transmitter is used for precise determination of the end of the glass fibre rod. This small, battery-operated transmitter generates its own field, which is detected precisely by a receiver. The exact depth can also be measured. The mini pig transmitter can also be used without a glass fibre rod. This makes a wide variety of uses with pipeline cleaning pigs, channel cameras, etc. possible!

                                        Plastic pipes cannot be located by conventional electromagnetic means because they are not electroconductive. A different principle is applied when locating pipes using the acoustic method: The pipes transmit mechanical vibrations better than the earth that surrounds them. When the pipe is caused to vibrate appropriately, these vibrations spread along the pipe to the earth's surface where they can be picked up by a ground microphone. In the same way as water leaks are detected by acoustic means, the pipeline is located where the intensity is greatest. This method can also be used to locate fibre cement pipes and metal pipes.

                                        The COMBIPHON® system consists of the Generator G5 central control unit and various impulse generators, so it can be used anywhere.
